Product review: Superpower superhero set
This product was sent to me for free to review. I was not paid for this review.
Superheroes rock the world of most of my children. When I was given the option to review these I leapt at the chance - and I wasn't expecting what I got.
Early Years Resources lists these under their 'Feelings and Emotions' section to use as part of circle time or general discussions around emotion, Their description is below:
'Meet the gang. The most magical, amazing set of Superheroes you’ll ever find. Each one has a super power to help sort an odd little worry or niggle. Our appealing characters, each one with a common personality trait, have been created to be woven into everyday life in your setting, familiar faces to help face fears. Perfect for circle time or PHSE activities.'
I had ummed and arred about using these in the provision areas as they are very durable but I decided that as these have arrived in the first term of Reception, then a round of circle times would be a wise move.
Have 6 superheroes helped to channel some of the core emotions which we have to tackle early on.
We structured our whole class circle time around these heroes over Autumn 2. Our circle times ran as we had hoped and having a specific hero to hold made the experience more sensory.
We left the heroes in the provision areas afterwards and used these for when children wished to discuss their feelings with each other or with adults.
