Women in Sport
If you're like me, you love a good pootle around Waterstones. Our local shop in Bradford is set in an old church and really is a magnificent place to be. They had a stand which caught my eye.
I've been researching an awful lot for my future 'boy's learning' training and I've been desperate to find more books which highlight women in strong roles.
Amongst these books was:
Its an excellent collection of women who have made an impact on their sport in some way. I tried to read these to my children but found them less impressed - too wordy! So I've designed something much simpler below:
Part of this is because I am so tired of hearing 'But girls don't play football!' And part of me wants to ensure that this week's sports relief is a celebration of not just the achievements of boys and men, but also of the girls and women who have made a significant impact on their sport and the attitudes of those around them.
I hope you have a wonderful Sport's relief day everyone and through sport we can continue to make an impact of the lives of those around us.
