Navigating Inspection

An inspection shouldn't feel like a test you can't prepare for. Our 'Navigating Inspection' support is a tailored package designed to help your nursery setting feel prepared, confident, and in control. We move beyond generic advice to deliver a process shaped entirely around your team, your children, and your unique strengths. This ISN'T a 'Mocksted.' We know that many settings might be looking to be put through a practice run. This isn't that. This service is designed to ask you challenging questions BUT then to support you when you don't feel like you know the answers.

What to expect

Our approach is collaborative and practical, giving your team the specific tools they need.

The process is clear and structured:

Discovery Call:

We start with a conversation to understand your setting's specific priorities, concerns, and what you want to achieve. This can take as long as you need but usually they are around 30 minutes, informal and designed to make you feel comfortable.

Bespoke On-site Support:

Mel works directly with your team in your environment. This includes practical guidance and hands-on training focused on key areas like effective learning walks, meaningful staff observations, and leadership readiness. This support is friendly, carefully considered and takes into account what makes you unique.

Paperwork check:

Mel will support you to ensure you have the necessary paperwork in place and offer additional support if you want to develop some of these to go deeper. She's not looking to catch you out, she's there to ensure nothing has been forgotten about.

Team Coaching: We coach your practitioners through what an inspection day will actually look and feel like, building their confidence in articulating the fantastic work they do every day.

Structured Guidance: You'll receive clear, structured guidance on each part of the inspection process, ensuring everyone understands what inspectors are looking for.

Follow-Up & Reflection: The support concludes with a follow-up call to reflect on progress, discuss any final questions, and make final adjustments to your action plan.

The outcome

This support goes beyond just ‘getting through’ an inspection—it’s about embedding high-quality practice that lasts. Your team will feel assured and competent, with a deep understanding of how their daily practice links to inspection expectations. The ultimate goal is to transform inspection from a moment of pressure into an opportunity to confidently showcase the incredible strengths of your setting.

Who is this for?

This programme is designed for leaders in ENGLAND who want to ensure they not just pass their inspection but they are ready to smash it!

We do not currently offer this service in Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland as Mel will follow the English framework when advising.

What is the investment?

As a leadership team you will need to be available to work alongside Mel for the entire day. This doesn't always have to be the same leader but we would recommend it where possible.

This process is a FULL day. Mel will rock up around 8am and usually stay until after 5. At NurseryNook we're all about using every second and going as deep as possible - so make sure you drunk an extra coffee that day!

Each full day costs £900 + Travel at 45p per mile from York. Accommodation (at £100 per night) may need to be charged for distant settings.

I'm in, what's next?
