Schemaplay is back and this time we're introducing a brand new programme designed specifically for Room Leaders.

This programme is designed with 3 different components to support Room Leaders to deepen their knowledge and their skills to support the team around them:

Part 1: Training

We start with some in-depth training split over multiple dates. Through these live group sessions we explore what Scheme and Schema are, what it tells us about how children learn and explore what we can do to support them in this.

You'll be in a group with other Room leaders. This means you will all share the same challenges and can support each other (if you want!).

The training will run on 18th & 20th November 1-2:30pm. If you cannot attend at this time there is a second session on the same dates running 6:30-8pm or you can watch the recording back.

Once you've started your accreditation you will gain access to bitesize training sessions to use with the team around you.

Part 2: Mentoring

Once you've had your wonderful training we begin the process of embedding it through structured mentoring. We'll meet with you on a 1:1 basis via Zoom in short 30 minute bursts at a time to suit you. This could be during work hours if you can get cover, before or after work hours or a weekend. During these mentoring sessions we'll embed the training and personalise the approach to work for your room.

Mentoring sessions are structured but not limited. If you need additional time you're welcome to book additional appointments to ensure Schemaplay makes the most impact in your room.

Part 3: Accreditation

Next comes accreditation. Through our mentoring you will be guided to gather specific evidence to become an accredited Room Leader. As part of this process you will then begin to roll out the training and mentoring for the rest of your team around you whilst your mentoring continues.

There are 3 levels of award available: Bronze, Silver and Gold. You will be guided through each over the course of the programme. Once you and your team have completed the programme you will receive a Plaque to celebrate your setting becoming a Schemaplay setting.

Who is this for?

This programme is designed for Room leaders OR people in charge of a team in a group setting. If you have a very small nursery team, are a childminder with a few assistants, a teacher in a school with assistants or lead a playgroup then this would also be perfect for you.

Each person should have responsibility over the staff in their team and have some non-contact time each week to dedicate to paperwork.

How long do I need?

The programme begins in November 2024 and runs until February 2026. If you need additional time then you can extend this to April 2026 at the latest.

You'll need a minimum of 2 hours per week to complete observations, reflective journals and other paperwork.

You'll meet your mentor at least once a month though you have the flexiblity to book this at a time that suits you.

How much does this cost?

The whole programme costs £700. This can be paid in one or spread over 4 months.

There is an additional £15 admin fee per staff member submitted for accreditation.

This includes the training, ongoing access and as many mentoring sessions as you like over the period of the programme (usually charged at £60 per hour).  This also includes the cost of your plaque at the end of the accreditation process.
